Atascadero Printery Workdays

It takes a village to raise a building.

Want to help out during a Printery Workday?

Just show up, no appointment necessary.

The Atascadero Printery hosts semi-monthly volunteer workdays where we invite the public to help with the restoration and maintenance of the future community building.  Workdays occur on the First Thursday Evening and Third Sunday Morning of every month.

Activities include:

  • Sweeping
  • Cobwebs
  • Removing Trash
  • Paint over Graffitti
  • Trimming Bushes/Trees
  • Clearing Weeds
  • Mowing
  • Gathering Leaves
  • Demolition
  • Repair/Restore
  • Restoration
  • Cleaning
  • Event Prep
  • Coordination
  • Special Projects
  • Organization

We ask that you wear appropriate attire for doing manual labor.  Equipement is available at the printery, but in limited supplies.  It would be helpful if you can bring your own.  We recommend that you mark your tools (some people use electrical tape with sharpee).

Consider Bringing:

  • Face Covering (required)
  • Sturdy Shoes
  • Gloves
  • Hat or Sunscreen
  • Rakes / Trimmers / Clippers
  • Hammer / Drill
  • Knee Pads
  • Portable Lights

A building used for so many purposes over more than 100 years has bits and pieces that need to be safely removed.

Much of the work to restore the building can be done by volunteers.  Often volunteers will assist or prep for contractors.

The Atascadero Printery has highly visible grounds which can attract (or detract) from the building’s image.  Volunteers keep up the landscape.

A building this size requires regular housekeeping as well as cleanup of construction/demolition debris.

Event Prep

Volunteers help get ready for upcoming events by making signs, organizing supplies, constructing props/tents, cleaning items, storing previous event’s items, and more.
