SAVING OUR HISTORY IMPACTING OUR FUTURE
The Printery
The Atascadero Printery has always been the center of the community. Originally built in 1915 to the house the Women’s National Publishing Company, it was the main source of the jobs and income for the fledging town. Millions of copies of The Illustrated Review, La Times, San Francisco Chronicle and the local newspaper. Through the years the building has served home to Junior Colleges, the Masonic Lodge, County Sheriffs Office, schools and youth services. Restoration is now on the Future to revitalize this historic site in the heart of Atascadero.
The Future
Before being closed due to damage from the 2003 San Simeon Earthquake, the Printery served as the Atascadero Youth Center. Restoration of the Printery opens a vast array of cultural, preforming and visual arts events for all ages & abilities. Plans include a fully equipped theater space with seating up to 300. An interactive museum will house historical displays, printing, an space to create projects. The Printery will be vibrant hub of activities to meet the needs of the community everyday. Join us in restoring the Printery by donating, volunteering or attending one of our fundraising events.

What Drives Us
Our Mission
The Atascadero Printery Foundation is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of the historic Atascadero Printery, a 110 Year old structure along the Central Coast. The Foundation came together in 2017 to save the important piece of History, the first civic center, which had been abandoned for over a decade. The Foundation was able to reclaim the Printery and confirmed it’s listing in the National Register of Historic Places, and now working diligently to raise the needed funds to restore the building to its previous grandeur. Help us in making our vision become a reality of Raising 10 Million Dollars to begin construction.
